The Muppets Take DC

My family has always been obsessed with the Muppets.

It started with my older sister and Kermit and expanded from there.

We love the movies. (The classics especially.) We loved Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock. Over the years, my family amassed a (significant) collection of stuffed Muppets and Sesame Street characters. And now my parents are passing that collection down to a next generation of Muppet-lovers, their grandson.

So you can imagine how I felt when I heard about the Smithsonian's new display devoted to puppets, which includes a handful of Muppets.

You had me at MUPPET.

So on my next trip to DC, a quick visit to see the Puppetry in America display at the National Museum of American History is on the very, very tipity-top of my to-do list. That and get gelato here every day.

But I'll have to hurry because the display is only on view through April 13, 2014.

So tell me, who is your favorite Muppet/Fraggle/Seasame Street character? I've always had a soft spot for Beeker, Super Grover, and Mokey.
